As a child i used to play on the mcclure family ranch my dad and mom were friends of the mcclures this wa in the early 1960,s i realy liked the kids there was a girl about my age i dont remember her name. Thank you so much. My family calls this "Mom's Beach". It was her favorite place. We lost her years ago and I live far away now but always make a pilgrimage there to remember her. It's a peaceful, beautiful part of this wonderful world and very condusive to reflection. Your photos are beautiful.

My wife and I discovered the wonder of McClure's beach long before we were married, finding it a wonderful hide away, to just watch the Ocean, and get away from it all. We also discovered that frequently in February, and March, when all the other beaches were in deep fog, and rain, this special beach was frequently clear, or with only light clouds. A place protected from the weather. Now old, and not in the best of shape, we still intend to go again,to see our beach. Buy the way for those who have not found the hidden beach, some years after a large series of heavy storms, the cave, is washed clean of sand, and makes a good spot for camping, even though that is now frowned upon.

Thankyou so much. This has to be my favorite beach in the world also. built fires there at night, went into the thundering surf in the mornings, watched the sea lions play...all so long ago. i am the sea the sea is me, together we will always be. and that long winding trail getting down there...mozarts concerto for flute harp and orchestra in c major always ran through my head whilst making the descent. thanks for these pics...made my day! ;)

Dear Della, I am absolutely delighted to find your "site" with the beautiful pictures of my favorite beach in the world- McClures. They bring back such delicious memories of many an afternoon spent sitting on the beach, pondering the events of the previous week. While putting away pictures the other day I came across my own snap shots of that unforgetable place including one I had labeled" Always keep a special place in your heart...." taken in the early seventies when I was stationed at the Oakland Naval Hospital . I loved exploring the out of the way natural places in the San Francisco Bay area. I think my most vivid memory is that of the clouds of wild flowers along the psth leading down to the beach. And there were your two pictures of the very same flower bowers. Of course I cannot forget the rugged out-croppings and the way the waves absolutely crash-dashed half way up as if to devouer that high stack to the left. So I just wanted to let you know that I did visit your site and to tell you of the pleasure it brought to me. Thanks ever so much for the posting Now I live in Charleston, SC

I just happened upon your photos and I grew up in Northern California and lived there pretty much all of my life. However I'm in Atlanta, GA now, I know Mclures Beach very well, when I was young growing up in the 70's we went there almost every weekend and made that hike down to the beach. Your photos brought back very fond memories.
