Both of my sons were born by cesarean delivery. I was in the room with my wife but on the other side of the drape that was put up and not knowing what was going on. Now I know why I was on the other side. Thanks Debbie and to this mother for sharing.

These are amazing images, Debbie, and you have done an outstanding service to anyone interested in seeing what cesarean birth is all about. However, after seeing this gallery, I think I made the right decision not to go into the medical field even though I was born cesarean! Vote

Quite a dramatic gallery, Debbie. After a few bloody experiences that included a delivery of a still baby when I was an intern many, many moons ago, I decide NOT to become an OB-GYN doctor. I chose to be an endocrinologist. V

I had the privilege to witness an appendectomy some years ago but nothing compared to this cesarean.

Debbie, your handling of the camera was flawless during this procedure.
May I ask how you were given this opportunity? I would loved to have photographed my granddaughter's birth via cesarean section.

How cool is that!! This is an operation I haven't seen all the way through, 'till now. I've seen a number of standard births. Some facets, such as clarity of the amniotic, are clearer here. I always have an increased respect for mothers after viewing either way ;-) Thank you and thank the mother for me as well. Nice work Debbie - g

Even tho I sat next to my wife holding her hand when she had a c-section, I kept my eyes on hers and never saw anything so I had to take a peak at this, but the thumbnails are as far as I made it. I take that back, I just looked at the first one, dang they didn't have one of those screens blocking the view for us, I just wish I would have had ear plugs so I couldn't hear them talking about what they were doing.

I guess the camera survived the autoclave, Canon equipment is battlefield tough
