Every year, thousands of runners in the Washington, DC area run the US Marine Corps Marathon - 26.2 miles of some of the most beautiful and historic scenery you'll find anywhere -- if you can find the energy to see it. Something like 60% of the 22,000+ runners are doing their first marathon. MCRRC conducts several training programs to prepare members for the race. Typically, there are more than 200 runners just from the club running the race.
The photos in this gallery illustrate a number of things that are necessary, nice to have, or entirely frivolous if you plan to run this little morning jog. These are several of the less well-know necessities for a successful marathon.
