Western Veil Nebula

Sedro-Woolley, Wa.

The Veil Nebula or Cygnus loop is located in the constillation Cygnus about 2000 light years away.
This nebula has expanded considerably is its estimated 4000 to 6000 year old birth from a super nova.
In this photo, the Whiches Broom is in the upper right, and Pickerings triangle is in the center left.
Williamina Fleming discovered the faint central parts of the nebula in the late 1800's while examinging Harvords photographic plates.
The triangular patch of gas was named for Pickering who was the Harvord observatory director at the time.
