There are classical portraits, environmental portraits (portraits in entourage), documentary portraits. They can be staged or not. The person may not even know he/she is being photographed. I believe all of them fit the "portraiture" definition. Either way, for me a portrait is not a photograph following some rules of composition. It's an image that accomplishes to capture and convey something more about a person than his or her appearance. No matter how small the person is in the image itself. Actualy I can imagine a meaningful portrait with no people in it at all...

A lot of the stuff on Pbase is called " portrait". A lot of the portrait shots are stiff and posed looking, having been taken by a lousy pro or an over enthusiastic enthusiast with a hot-shot DSLR. Your stuff is good though, it looks natural.

Friend, What can I say-Inspirational gallery is the least I can say.. ..I kind of wish daylight would last 24 hurs so I can just shoot photos all day trying to capture the compositions and styles of your work..Simply Impressive work.. Having a tag line on every image is distracting and it takes away from an otherwise nice image. Let the viewer decide what the image reminds them of. I like the way you set up the gallery. Need to learn how to do that
