We soon come to the historically significant White Bay Power Station. Built is stages between 1912
and 1958 it operated until 1983 providing the bulk of electrical power for the inner city over all
of that time. It was replaced by a complex of much larger, cleaner generating plants much further
away from population centres. An important heritage site, it has been undergoing major restoration
since last year although future applications for the site remain unclear.
