It effectively takes about 15 minutes to cross a space which (had it been dry land) we might easily
have crossed in 5 minutes. Combined with the initial wait, coming this way has cost us roughly 45
minutes in all. As the walking route along the north bank is very much shorter than the southern
alternatively, we are probably still about even for time really.
