Here we get a glimpse of some medium to large scale residential development on the south bank. The
intervening mangroves have long been known to support the river ecology. Most especially they provide
breeding areas for small fish which is vitally important. Since significant stretches of the river
have been permanently reserved for mangroves in recent decades, harbour fish populations have
hugely increased.
