Soon, we pass the Rydalmere Ferry wharf where a Parramatta "River Cat" is about to dock. This is one
of dozens of pick up points for commuting passengers along Parramatta River. The fleet of rivercats
(i.e. catamaran hulled ferries) is designed to carry the maximum number of passengers with the least
draft, enabling them to offer pretty reliable service all the way to Parramatta. They are pretty
fast as well and able to get along rapidly while creating least disturbance to the close-by river
foreshores.
