We pass under McArthur St Bridge. It is often referred to as the 'Gasworks bridge' because of the
gasworks that once occupied the block southeast of ot it. The structure was completed in 1885. The
river here is quite shallow and commercial vessels such as transport ferries sometimes experience
difficulties at low tides. When the tide is especially low, ferry services to Sydney city are
occasionally cancelled.
