One of the streets leading up to the historic property is lined with 1920/30s Californian Bungalows or at
least houses built somewhat similar to the prototype but influenced by an earlier fashion for "Federation"
style houses. Lots of limestone mortar tuck pointing on the streetfront, "japanned" timber features
inside such as chair rails, picture rails, skirting boards, architraves and doors. Most important
of course was the nice deep tesselated tile brick and column defined front verandah. I feel right
at home walking back along this street. I was brought up in a neighbourhood which looked very much
like this.
