Mitchells Pass was closed for many many years. The road was subject to rock falls which could be
truly dangerous to traffic and the Lennox Bridge (named after the engineer who supervised its
construction) was beginning to crumble. The bridge was subject to major restoration and
strengthening for many years and the cliffs which often showered cars with rocks were stabilised.
These days visitors can picnic around and below the bridge or take bush walks. Juanita (who hadn't
been here before) really loved it. The Lennox Bridge is now the oldest stone arch bridge on the
Australian mainland.
