We are really getting to the bottom of the mountains now. Blaxland (like Wentworth Falls and Lawson)
is named after one of the original explorers whose 1813 route across the mountains is followed by the
transport corridor to this present day. At 234 metres altitude, this village is the second lowest
community to officially form part of the lower Blue Mountains. Since leaving my home in Blackheath
I have now descended a total of 831 metres (i.e. 2732 feet) toward sea level.
