Now, last time I didn't mean to suggest that cameras like the G12 can replace SLRs. It is just that
most of us (myself included) have tended to dismiss small cameras with small sensors as not being
serious tools. I no longer believe that. If you want to shoot fast sports action or the finer details
of a black cat in a coal bin at midnight of course you need an SLR with its bigger sensor and "go faster"
firmware. For an awful lot of applications however, a thoughtfully utilised compact camera can do
quite nicely. As usual, it is frustrating how much image acuity is lost after uploading to the web.

Thank you for the enlightenment - I have noticed too that uploading takes away some of the details. I am using a smaller camera Canon Power Shot S5/Is and I am happy with most of the results.
