This is the last PaD picture for my year of 2011 which was shot a couple of days before Christmas
(which DOES seem such a long time ago ALREADY) This is part of the Centrepoint Tower, the tallest
structure in the Sydney CBD skyline. From the very top you can see all the way to the Blue Mountains
along with every notable landmark and structure in the inner Sydney metropolitan area. The nearby
building is the recently rebuilt Westfield Centrepoint shopping precinct (interior shots of which
I posted for Christmas 2010)
Tonight, during New Year's Eve celebrations, some fireworks will be launched from the top of this
tower but most of the freworks will be set off from barges moored at strategic positions around the
harbour. Most especially a "rainbow fall of pyrotechnics" will be launched from the Sydney Harbour
Bridge. An estimated 1.5 million people will gather around the harbour to watch the display live
along with an estimated 1.5 BILLION on television around the world.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY.
