7Apr11Cf.jpg

In recent times, Leura has been getting lots of new hideaway shopping arcades and such. The other
day, we got a new underground carpark and a full Woolworths supermarket. It certainly isn't a
quaint mountain village any longer. It's still a nice place to be but the effect is now all a bit
"Double Bay" with just a smidgen of "Rodeo Drive", somehow. I DID like the play of light and
muted reflections on this stainless steel sign, however.

A fine composition with lovely light. Lots to choose from in this place, but don't forget the plastic. V

I can see why it took your eye but I would miss the quaint little village.

Leura as Rodeo Drive?? One look down into the Jamieson Valley should cure that! I haven't spent much time in the township itself but the area down near Silk’s Brasserie still has that village feel; wished I had my 40D that night to capture it. The Fairmont is making a comeback which is a good thing as well. But yes, this sign is one that you'd more expect in a very "urban" environment. Being mostly "urban shooting guy", I like it for that alone.
