There were patterns formed by rock pools everywhere. In some places the water appeared to be
puddles of fresh water, filling natural ground depressions after rainfall. In some places, lower
and closer to the shore, the pools contained marine life and were more likely filled by tidal
action or from particularly powerful breakers, smashing up against the cliffs. In still other cases
water seemed to be seeping out of rock faces into natural water courses filling puddles as it flowed.
