One of the mainstays of Lithgow industry used to be the State Coal Mine which finally closed in 1964.
Today the site of operations is preserved for people to visit as a rough and ready museum. There are
heritage buildings and lots of bits of old machinery strewn about. There's old railways trucks and
boilers and stuff that entirely defies description for ignorami such as myself. There are heaps of
photographic opportunities all over the place.
