Most Australian cities and rivers have, at one time or another, had naval vessels named after
them. Downstream from the Bridge of Oars is the "HMAS Parramatta" memorial. It appears that there
have actually been FOUR separate ships which have born the name. Pictured is the battered stern
remnant of the original HMAS Parramatta which was a "River" class torpedo boat destroyer of 700
tons, launched in 1910, fought in WWI and decommissioned in 1928 - pictured below.


The current HMAS Parramatta, launched in 2003, is an "Anzac"
class frigate of 3600 tonnes - pictured below.

A powerful composition and the light really highlights the textures of weathering metal. Interesting research as well.
