For the first time the Walking Coastal Sydney project website lets us down. The way ahead will bring us into
headlong conflict with a lot of pedestrian unfriendly locations like freeways, flyovers, airports and huge intersections
with no pedestrian crossings. The people who have organised the walking route maps simply gave up at this point
failing to provide any maps at all lest a trekker, following them, come to grief where no walkways and pedestrian
facilities are provided - potentially leading to legal action. Well let me say this: These are the circumstances where
hikers with no local knowledge, following YOUR invitation to walk your districts, need guidance the MOST. The
"Walking Coastal Sydney" project is the joint effort of local government. And who is responsible for enabling
pedestrians to proceed in safety? Local government - that's who. I earnestly ask Botany Council to take a long
hard look at the lack of safe pedestrian ways in the airport precinct.
Aaaanyway. We have set ourselves the task of walking past Port Botany, around Sydney Airport, back to the Botany
Bay foreshore and on to Brighton Le Sands.
