This is part of the Mona Vale Headland Hillcrest Lookout. It was at this point that we caught sight of whales frollicking offshore. Unfortunately
my lightweight compact kit could not get me a presentable shot of them. The naked eye managed much better than the camera did. On the
sensor they came out as tiny distant whitecaps on an otherwise boring field of blue water. I am getting a Sigma 120-400 soon and it might have
managed quite nicely but on an extended trek such as this I cannot cope with such heavy gear along with backpacks and poles. Incidentally if you
look carefully in almost the dead centre of the shot you can make out the distant freighter we saw that morning, still moored off Whale Beach.
