When we told friends in New York that we were going to the Toys R Us store in Times Square during the Christmas season they warned us not to go.
Did we listen? NO! In fact we ventured inside twice and, sure enough it was a madhouase of mythical proportions.... both times.
On the left you see Superman, much larger than lifesize, hanging from the ceiling over our heads. He appears to be stopping a runaway 18 wheeler.
And he had plenty of company. There were giant displays, toy characters and action figures everyhere you looked.
And on the lower level there was a small ferris wheel.
I was also surprised to see so many people out on the floor demonstrating toys. It reminded me of an old carnival midway.
...and out front we came across this boy playing old fashioned music on his saxaphone. Sounding GOOD! He seemed to be raking in the bucks.
As we came out he was playing the "Inchworm Song", a song I've always loved, from The Danny Kaye: Hans Christian Andersen biopic, though he probably knew it from the Muppet Movie:
Inchworm, Inchworm,
Measuring the Marigolds
Seems to he he stops to see
how beautiful they are
(.....in Times Square?)
