a mosaic portrait of the Civil War General and the 18th president of the United States Ulysses S. Grant at Grant's Tomb in New York City....it is a replica of his portrait on the fifty dollar bill...he and his wife are buried here...this mosaic is an unofficial addition to the national monument...many purists want it removed...the monument is surrounded by mosaics which are very similiar to those by Gaudi in Barcelona, Spain
