The southern Sierra Nevada mountains do not have the lofty peaks of the High Sierra. This region was created by volcanic and earthquake activity, rather than glaciers that did their work in the more northern reaches of the range. There are, however, beautiful meadows, several groves of giant sequoia trees, fast-running rivers, beautiful campgrounds and some grand views.
