I am the owner of the gas pump picture in Newberry Springs, CA. This is a Whiting Brothers gas pump...Station 51, closed in 1968. I also was the school teacher at Amboy School from 1989-1999....I have lots of info about teaching the one-room schoolhouse there in Amboy. 2-25-06

Man, that's super hella mega bad ass!! I'm looking forward to taking a trip thru 66 in the near future, and those pics really put it into a nice perspective! I'd've liked to have seen more though. They all seem to be from california, but it's great anyhow. Cool. Jason

As a former Amboy School student during Rt. 66's heyday I found myself longing for those special days when children harmonized as children do, I being one of them; namely playing tetherball, dodge ball, and swinging during recess. I'm gonna soon undertake a web project researching and detailing the history of Amboy school. Great quality pics!
