A Beaver and its Wake

We sat on the edge of Snake River at Oxbow Bend, in Grand Teton National Park, admiring the view. Then a beaver, the largest rodent in North America, swam into view. The amazing wake trailing far behind reflected the colors of both the sky and the aspen trees along the banks of the river. The beaver made a few lazy circles in the water as if for our benefit, and then dove into its den.
