The Swingin' 60s - An Eyewitness Account

In truth, they did not really swing for me, those crazy, and until now hazy, 1960s. But I did have a lot of fun. I came across a stash of old photos that had been stored away (i.e. lost) in our garage. These pictures are scanned from the original negatives (mostly 120 medium format film) shot with my ancient Rollei twin lens reflex. So the photographs - and my youth - live again, on the Web.

This is an outstanding gallery both from a historic and an artistic point of view. I also like the captions, which make the time time more accessible. You sure have had a very interesting youth! Thanks for sharing (and I hope, the gallery will be updated from time to time).

this is a great gallery...while I'd love to see the rest of your work, I find myself captivated in a time that is lost to most of us of this genre...thanks for bringing them back

wonderful.. exvcellent effort and thanx for sharing such momentous and historical photos dave...these are live on the move pictures with no way of checking what was captured..inspite of all that you did a gr8 job in composition, light metering(all manual and experience!) and in delivering the final product

This is a great album. It takes me back. 1961 was the year I got married. The 60's were good years for me. And I was shooting away with my Pentax H3.

Very capturing Dave, great reminder of a time of turmoil for America (at least so they say, I was five and only worried about the Captain Crunch inventory in 1967) I was very drawn to every photo in this gallery. Thanks for taking the effort to scan and share this with us. Also great to know that these were shot with your Rollei, what a wonderful history you have with that camera.
