In 2010, I posted:
New stylish recycling bins have appeared at many places across the Island.
They look nice, but with their massive concrete bases, small size and the separation between them, their practicality comes nowhere near that of the bins they replace.

In 2011, John Astbury explained to me that the 'massive concrete bases' each contain a massive collecting bin, so in fact these stylish bins aren't in any way stupid - they were especially selected by the Island's environmental development people for their look AND practicality!
