Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis)

Knighton Reservoir, Shropshire, UK

Having a stretch! I don't normally do 'props' but I've had this fishing rod since 1971 when my Grandad passed away. I've never done anything with it even at the height of my Tench fishing adventures with my Dad in the mid-1970s. I thought I'd dig it out and see if it could facilitate the catching of one more fish and it duly obliged! However the Kingfisher decided to land facing the other way so a fish pic will have to wait till another day.

Not the typical catch one gets with a fishing rod. Your Grandfather would be proud!
