medieval Kingdom of Navarre, a long-standing Pyrenean kingdom that occupied lands on both sides of the western Pyrenees, with its northernmost part, Lower Navarre, located in the southwest corner of France.
Love's Labour's Lost is one of William Shakespeare's early comedies, believed to have been written in the mid-1590s for a performance at the Inns of Court before Queen Elizabeth I. It follows the King of Navarre and his three companions as they attempt to swear off the company of women for three years in order to focus on study and fasting.

Love's Labour's Lost Characters & Descriptions, Boyet
Boyet is a gossipy French lord attending on and counseling the Princess of France, quick to note that the young men have fallen for the ladies.

An older man, he enjoys matching wits with the ladies, though either out of lack of ability or out of gallantry he generally allows the lady to win. Other men tend not to like him, as he is much better at becoming friendly with ladies than they are. He joins the lords of Navarre in mocking the pageant of the Nine Worthies. He has a great sense of humor and is delighted to be able to join in all the pranks on the young lords.
