Thanks for your reply. I found it interesting that you were born in Gainesville, Texas as my brother-in-law, Lanny Lyons and his wife Sylvia live there. Do you know them? Lanny worked for Babcock & Wilcox. After retiring, he taught in the public schools in Gainesville. Sylvia also was a teacher in the public schools.

I have not worked on the Boyett/Kersey family for some time. I go to Tampa every two to three months and have abstracted some of the obits on the Boyett and Kersey lines. The earliest [posted online] is from the Florida Peninsula issue of 3 April, 1858 notice of James A. Boyet's intention to apply for Letters of Administration on the estate of his father, Edward Boyet, Sr. The Hernanado Courthouse does not have the record because of fire destroying the records in the 1860's.

I have an excellent range, township, section map of Hernando County [and other counties] from the Florida Department of Transportation and have pinpointed the properties of the armed occupation permits of the early Boyett pioneers. The Department of Transportation maps show detailed back roads, some churches, cemeteries and the sections of the Townships. The Department has an office in Bartow at 801 North Broadway Avenue, 33830. [ North Broadway is Highway 98].

James A. Boyet had several properties within Brooksville and it's outskirts. Edward, Sr. had property north of Brooksville along the present day Citrus County line. John's property straddled where the railroad is and included the airport [or most of it] that you mentioned in one of your e-mails. I did not notice if you had the Senior Edward Boyet's permit or not. The location was in Range 19E, Township 21 S, and was the E 1/2 of the NW 1/2 and the W 1/2 of the NE 1/4 of Section 16. Date of permit #125 was 23 January 1843; date of notice 4 January 1843; surveyed 28 June 1847.

Re: Hammock, Jackson:
In one of your e-mails to Brenda, you have the 1850 census listing a Jackson Hammock and children including a daughter, Nancy, age 20. I will be glad to share info with you. I am impressed with your research.

The Boyet family is linked to my Lyons family by intermarriages with my Lyons and Kersey families. The most important Boyet in my family tree is, Barcilla Boyet who was born in Lowndes Co, GA. I do not know who her parents and ancestors were. She married Libron Kersey in Madison Co, FL on 22 Dec 1842. Libron Kersey was also born in Lowndes Co, GA.

As for the Edward Boyet, Sr. family, a descendent of Thomas Ashley Boyett married into my Lyons family as follows:
1-Thomas Ashley Boyette & 1st wife, Virginia Hurst
2-John Ashley Boyette & 2nd wife, Blanche McNeal
3-Vera Boyette & Elam Allen Lyons

Also, connected through:
1-Thomas Ashley Boyette & 2nd wife Eliza Jane Osburn
2-Laura Boyette & John Madison Ryals
3-Grace Ellen Ryals & Edmon Lyons

I have been following your and Michael Boyette's messages on Boyette-L.
