Thursday I took a vaction day and we headed out for a 4-day weekend in the forests of north central PA. I have been looking forward to this trip since November 2004 when I reserved the cabin and I can’t wait to head out!

We drove through wild elk territory. I hoped to find some of them in areas that would also show off the fall colors. Alas, it was not to be… Not only were the elk well away from anywhere I looked (though we did spot a herd far off on private land) the sky was very dark and gray.

We were in the middle of central PA when she noted she was very hungry. Being we couldn’t find anyplace to eat I drove to a secluded spot where she could have snack from the camping stores I’d packed.

I love driving these back roads and enjoy finding the hidden beauty of PA on them. This is Lower Jerry Run.
