After work on Friday I headed up to Butler to visit family and drop off some early Valentine’s Day flowers to my mother. On the way I thought I would explore under a frozen bridge a bit but I was NOT dress for the icy wind coming in off the lake. As frigid air sliced through me I scanned the understructure for anything interesting to shoot. Through icy tears caused by the wind I spotted some empty nests made of mud. I think they must be swallow nests but will not know for 100% certainty until the Spring when I’ll go back and see what lives here.
More photos taken this winter can be seen in my PA Winter 2005 gallery.
