Sunday we went for a short hike after spending the day at my mother’s doing the “honey-do” list. I spotted this bird box in a clearing and noted a bird flying out. Thinking I may get a nice shot I went over near it and planted my butt on the ground, camera aimed at it. I waited about 20 minutes and this bird, a Tree swallow, Tachycineta bicolor, eventually came back. After snapping a few of it, I then stood up thinking it would fly off. When it didn’t, camera still aimed at it, I slowly approached. I was able to get very close indeed.
