Dancing Drops

Photographing water drops is a great passion of mine. I hope you enjoy this gallery.

Used Nikkor 60 mm micro and 3 stacked Kenko extension tubes for these.
The drops were really tiny (about the size of a pinhead), dropped from a pipette into a shot glass of tap water.

BTW, I don't use any sound/photogate triggers for my high speed photography. Just my camera, a pipette or syringe,
good eye/shutter finger coordination and patience, patience, patience.....

Irene - talk about cosmic vortexes --- I just spent the morning cleaning out old boxes of stuff and had come across a science project I did in high school on "antibubbles and water globules" when I came across this gallery via your coffee meets milk and my brother in law. Antibubbles are a film of air, with water instide and outside. Globules are what you've photographes (excellently, I might add). See Scientific American's Amateur Scientist articles from April 1974 and August 1973 for details/ideas. You can make the antibubbles with a solution of tap water and 9-10 drops of dish soap (maybe less with today's concentrated varities) and an eyedropper. They rise to the surface slower than normal bubbles because of the internal weight. Let me know if you do any photos of these - I've really enjoyed your other galleries and would love to see what you do with these. Fishlips@centurytel.net

Hey Irene, yet again another excellent and creative gallery using natural elements. I have come to expect your perfect execution now so there's no need to comment on that :). These are great. Perfectly little spherical marvels of nature. I would usually suggest trying to get something small in there (e.g. a pinhead) to provide some scale but I also know you do not shoot "typical" photos with these themes of galleries (smoke, water, etc). Instead you border more on artistic creations and this fits perfectly. Great job. Vote

Hi Irene,this is another set of wonderful experimental shots ,i like the colours and accurately focused shots taken at the perfect moment,you have a lot of patience,(i wish i had a fraction of it:-)).
