The transport trailers were made by Schurle and comprise a total of 320 tires.
The tractors included 3 Kenworths and 3 Terburgs.
The transportation was done in midwinter when the roads were frozen and several bridges had to be re-inforced because of the heavy loads. Thes shots were taken near Two Hills.

Ho, Hum, just another day in the oil Patch.

The world's largest haul trucks, the CAT 797 are used to haul the bitumen from the mine site to the processing plant. Each truck can haul 400 tons and is powered by a 3400 horsepower quad-turbo diesel that consumes 65 gallons per hour...or 550,000 gallons in a year. The tires are specially made by Michelin and are 13 feet in diameter and cost more than $40,000 each. The trucks themself cost more than $4 Million each, and Syncrude has 36 of them working round the clock, except for regular maintenance.
