Milford Sound

Milford Sound

The evidence of glaciers at work is clearly visible here: the mountainside has been scraped of by the slow moving ice, leaving behind a 1000ft high vertical cliff (right side of picture, and yes, someone did do a basejump from there) and a hanging valley in the middle, with Stirling Falls (495 feet) at the lowest point of the cliff. This part of the sound also has the deepest waters, with the cliff going further down for another 940ft (287m).
