We hiked Carter Dome, Middle and South Carter on this beautiful fall like day in August. Temperatures were in the high 70's on the ground but up high we were chilled enough to wear winter hats! We hiked a loop starting at 19 Mile Brook trail to Zeta Pass then up to Carter Dome on the Carter Dome trail and back. We then went on to the Carter Moriah trail to summit South and Middle Carter, then to the North Carter trail which connects to the Imp trail. We took the cutoff to Joe Dodge and finished with a short road walk back to the parking area. Total distance was 12.7 miles with 4226 ft of ascent elevation and we finished in 8 hrs including breaks. We met a half dozen AT thru hikers and one gentleman who was finishing his 48! Exciting day in the White Mountains of NH!
