Rouge Serenissima.

La « Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia » disparut en 1797 vaincue par les troupes de Napoléon Bonaparte.  Le drapeau de la ville de Venise a conservé une bonne partie du drapeau d’origine, notamment le lion de St-Marc et les couleurs rouge et or.

The «Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia» disappeared in 1797 defeated by the troops of Napoleon Bonaparte.   The flag of the city of Venice has retained much of the original flag, including the St.Mark’s lion and the red and gold colors.

the nostalgia inherent in flying the old flag is well supported by the building on which it rests..gone are the glory days..instead of merchants and nobles, now there are tourists..
