Brendan est, selon la Légende, un infatigable voyageur.
Vers 515-524 son premier voyage le conduit aux îles Féroé et en Islande à bord d'une petite embarcation.
Il entreprend ensuite une quête de sept ans à la recherche du jardin d'Éden. Il s'aventure sur l'océan Atlantique avec plusieurs moines, probablement vers l'an 530. Il serait allé aux Açores et jusqu’aux Antilles !
Il revient en Irlande en affirmant avoir découvert une île (par la suite nommée Île de Saint-Brendan) qu'il assimile au Paradis.
Il parcoure aussi les îles Britanniques et la Bretagne pendant près de vingt-cinq ans.

Brendan is, according to legend, a tireless traveler.
Around 515-524 his first voyage took him to the Faroe Islands and Iceland in a small boat.
He then undertook a seven-year quest in search of the Garden of Eden. He set out on the Atlantic Ocean with several monks, probably around the year 530. He would have gone to the Azores and to the West Indies!
He returned to Ireland, claiming to have discovered an island (later named the Isle of Saint Brendan) which he assimilated to heaven. .
He also travelled the British Isles and Brittany for nearly twenty-five years.
