Klerwi was St-Guénolé’s sister. According to a legend, while she was hunting wild geese from the courtyard of the castle of Lesguen, property of her parents, she was attacked by one of the geese who snatched her eye and swallowed it. ( Sorry for this « gory » moment).
Saint Guénolé, a very famous Saint in Brittany, at this very moment was in prayer at the monastery but an angel warned him of the accident.
He rushed to the castle, grabbed the goose, split her belly, pulled out the eye ( sorry for this second gory moment) and put it back in place.
He made the sign of the cross before the re-implanted eye and made it as clear and beautiful as ever.
Better still: Klerwi regained his sight.
