Envahissement.

Quelques explications concernant l’image précédente (« Bridge to Nowhere »)…

Some explanations about the previous image (“Bridge to Nowhere”)…
During the very beginning of the 20th century, French engineers experimented with numerous devices to warn boats of the dangers of the coast when the weather was particularly bad and especially in case of intense fog. The bridge connected the coast to one of these devices: an underwater bell.
A 30-metre high-strung metal beam allowed, in foggy weather, the immersion by 7 metres of bottom of an electric bell whose signal was set from the Creac’h lighthouse. The boats cruising offshore and equipped with hydrophones along their hull could capture the sounds and be located in relation to the island. The bell was removed in 1919.

That coastline looks so treacherous - no wonder they tried different ways to warn vessels.
