Enfant j’avais été élevé dans la foi catholique. A chaque fois que nous venions ici je ressentais de puissantes émotions. Le nom était terrifiant « Baie des Trépassés » et le décor si impressionnant à mes jeunes yeux qu’il me semblait que j’étais parvenu sur le terrain même où s’affrontaient les forces du bien et du mal. L’armée de Lucifer se manifestait dans la violence des tempêtes, la puissance des vagues, les roulements infernaux du tonnerre ; l’armée des Anges répliquait en allumant les phares qui sauvaient les embarcations du naufrage, en libérant le soleil qui ramenait la lumière sur les roches tourmentées et le bleu riant du ciel qui apaisait les vagues et transformait l’océan en un immense et paisible lac d’azur.
Aujourd’hui la puissance évocatrice des lieux me paraît encore si imposante qu’il me semble, les soirs de plénitude, fouler un sanctuaire, un territoire sacré qui ouvre sur l’infini.

As a child I was raised in the Catholic faith. Every time we came here I felt powerful emotions. The name was terrifying « The Bay of the Departed spirits » and the setting so impressive to my young eyes that it seemed to me that I had arrived on the very ground where the forces of good and evil were competing. Lucifer’s army manifested itself in the violence of storms, the power of the waves, the hellish rolling of thunder; the Angels' army responded by lighting the lighthouses that saved the boats from sinking, by releasing the sun that brought light to the tormented rocks, and with the blue of the sky that soothed the waves and transformed the ocean into a huge and peaceful azure lake.
Today the evocative power of the place is still so impressive that it seems to me, on evenings of fullness, to tread a sanctuary, a sacred territory that opens on infinity.
