Très vite la légende circula que le phare était hanté. Les gardiens affirmaient qu’ils entendaient la nuit des sons étranges qui les empêchaient de dormir et qui en effrayaient beaucoup. En trente-cinq ans vingt gardiens démissionnèrent. Devant ce problème l’ administration décida d’automatiser le phare.
En fait des recherches récentes ont révélé qu’une grotte sous-marine traverse l’île. Quand de puissantes vagues s’y engouffrent l’air qui est comprimé s’échappe à travers une faille en émettant des gémissements sinistres…
