Native of Burma, Tibet and China, Hmong arrived recently to Laos. They live in the mountains of the North and practise the animistic cult supervised by a shaman.
During years Hmong cultivated poppies, and opium constituted their main source of income. The programs of eradication led by the government touched dratistically this community which lives henceforth by cultivating rice and corn and by raising buffaloes, pigs and chickens.
