Paul Gauguin lived in Pont-Aven between 1886-1894 and was the most well-known painter forming what was call later "L'école de Pont-Aven", a group of artists with Émile Bernard, Paul-Émile Colin, Paul Sérusier, Charles Filiger, Maxime Maufra, Henry Moret, Ernest de Chamaillard and Americans like Robert Wylie.
To day there are always many workshops of artists in Pont-Aven.
