That is a Green Watersnake (N. cyclopion). It is also an extraordinary photograph of one. Very nicely done!

Greg, I'm pretty sure this is a "Mississippi Green Water Snake" (nerodia cyclopion). According to Texas Snakes, by Werler and Dixon, this is the *only* Texas snake with a row of small scales seperating the eye from the upper lip scales. Compare with your picture of the Broadbanded Water Snake (5377-800). Water snakes are hard to tell apart (well, for *me) and I thought you'd like to know.
