Wood Stork

Texas

There is something I find very interesting about the shape of a Wood Stork and I found that was particularly true in this photo. Even though it has that huge beak, somehow, I am reminded of an old man in a white poncho. Another thing that really caught my eye when I was going through my photos from the day were how the lines of the reeds in the background almost reflect the arching shape of the bird. I wish I could say it was intentional but it was a case where circumstances just worked out and the “art” of the photo came from selecting this frame from the 40 or so that I took of this bird instead of any particular vision I had in the moment of capture. Do you think he looks like he is smiling?
