Here’s another favorite Costa Rica bird from our visit this past March. This male Red-legged Honeycreeper is one of several that we were fortunate enough to encounter during our time in the area. In this particular instance we had at least four males and five or six females/young in the area all at once. It was a little comical trying to figure out which one to go after for a photo. I don’t know if it is the “mask” or just they way these birds always seem to be alert, but they always seem like they are up to mischief.
