This Russet-naped Wood-Rail is one of several “new” species of birds resulting in some recent taxonomic splits that affect the birds of Costa Rica. We encountered this beauty on a boat ride in Cano Negro and it was nice enough to hold still for a few clear shots in the failing light of the end of the day.
